Titik Terang

(2020-2021)

Life is a journey that never stops, moving between darkness and light, between challenges and hope. In every darkness, there is a promise of a point of light. However, light is not the final destination. It is merely a temporary stop along the ongoing journey. Through the series 'Titik Terang' ('Points of Light'), I want to invite the audience to reflect on this cyclical nature of life, where darkness is not something to be avoided but a part of the journey that must be experienced.

In life, darkness is often seen as something frightening or uncertain. However, for me, darkness becomes a place to pause, breathe, and reflect. Darkness is the space where we confront ourselves, gather strength, and prepare to move forward. The small and limited streetlights in the middle of the night symbolize that hope is always present, even if it appears small and fragile.

When we reach a point of light, there is a sense of relief and safety. Yet light also reminds us that life cannot stop there. Light is a place for temporary rest, a reminder that a longer path lies ahead. Life is about the courage to step forward again, leaving the comfort zone of the light and entering new darkness, with the belief that another light awaits us.

Darkness and light are two sides of the same journey. They complement each other, teach each other, and form the eternal rhythm of life. We cannot appreciate the light without understanding the dark, and we cannot endure the dark without believing in the light. These elements are intricately woven into every visual element of this album/series, with deserted roads, dominant darkness, and faint lights guiding from afar.

This album was born from my personal experience of living in the campus dormitory at UPI, Bandung. Every night, I often took walks along the quiet roads, surrounded by darkness and cold air, accompanied only by the limited streetlights. These moments became a calming ritual, a space where I found peace amidst the busyness of my new world.

However, the pandemic forced me to leave this place earlier than expected. When I returned home and had to endure isolation, I felt a deep longing for those roads. Through the album 'Titik Terang', I reconstructed my memories of those quiet nightly walks while also reflecting on how life leads us through cycles of light and dark, providing space to grow and transform.

We all have our own 'dark paths' to navigate and 'points of light' waiting ahead. But light is not the end; it is merely part of a journey that continues. How do you face the dark? Where do you find the light? And how do you move forward after that?

'Titik Terang' is about the courage to keep moving, even when the journey ahead is dark. The small light in the distance is a promise that life always offers hope, even in the most challenging times. Yet, light is not the ultimate goal. Life is a journey, and the cycles of darkness and light are what make us resilient.

'Light is a temporary rest; we must keep moving to find the next light.'
